3 Ways to Get to Know Your Audience

audience adventure web interactiveSocial media prowess is fueled by consistent engagement from your audience, and here are some ways to get to know them. Without a grasp on who your audience is, your social media posts will get lost in cyberspace.

Utilize Peak Social Media Hours

If you use social media regularly, you will notice most algorithms have preferred posting times. Posting at peak times will give you a huge boost to get picked up by the algorithm and gain traction. 9 a.m. is a good time to post across the board, but every social media is different. However, you should look into each one to ensure your posts have the best shot. Depending on your audience, the peak times for your content may change. If your audience is made up of mostly business professionals, posting during the lunch hour (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) will give you a great chance of interacting with them.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

Social media engagement is built on interaction. Create polls, engagement stickers, or question and answer sessions to get feedback. A popular method of getting a lot of questions is holding an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. Make a social media post up to a week ahead of time and ask your audience if they have any questions for you. Holding regular AMA sessions at the same time will increase the possibility the algorithm pushes that content. Not only will you get engagement with your content, but you will better understand what your audience needs. Sometimes people do not know how important something is until they speak with an expert.

Interact with Accounts in Your Audience

Building engagement with your social media accounts relies on interaction with your account. A great way to do that is to comment on other accounts and create relationships with other creators. This is a method of building relationships with your audience that are not one-sided. You see this strategy work on social media like TikTok and Facebook, where comments are ranked by how many likes they have. Building rapport with your audience builds a parasocial relationship that they will remember personally.
