Who is St Mark?
St. Mark wrote the second Gospel, probably in Rome sometime before the year 60 A.D.; he wrote it in Greek for the Gentile converts to Christianity. Tradition tells us that the Romans requested St. Mark to set down the teachings of St. Peter. This seems to be confirmed by the position which St. Peter has in this Gospel. In this way, the second Gospel is a record of the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of the Prince of the Apostles. His feast day is April 25. He is the patron saint of notaries.
About the Parish
St. Mark Parish is a Catholic community of faith and service in Catonsville, Maryland. Rooted in the Gospel and inspired by the Holy Spirit, they strive to live out their mission through worship, education, and outreach. Anchored in hope, St. Mark Parish is committed to forming disciples, serving the poor, and building a parish family where every person belongs.

- That Jesus redeems all suffering, and restores us by His Passion, Death, and Resurrection,
- That we are called to a personal, intimate relationship with Him,
- That we have been given the Church as a family on earth to support us,
- That we are called to respond in love with generosity to God and to others.

The Catholic Church emphasizes the role each person plays in providing a just and safe society, including teachings on:
- Life and Dignity of the Human Person
- Call to Family, Community, and Participation
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
- Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
- Solidarity
- Care for God’s Creation
