Do: Target your audience

Always remember that you are writing for your audience, not for yourself. Think about what kind of content your audience would be interested in and focus on creating engaging posts that feed into those interests. Always remember that your audience will get burned out on too much self-promotion so try to follow the 80/20 rule: 80% of what you post should be for the benefit of your audience and 20% should be about promotion.


Don’t: Like your own posts

Liking your own posts can come off as conceited and spammy, so never do so under your company’s account. You should, however, encourage your employees and friends to like and share your content. This creates more natural engagement and is a great way to spread your brand without spending a dime!


Do: Stay Active

Social media users have short attention spans so you want to be sure to keep your brand on their radar. However, there is nothing more annoying than liking a page that posts excessively so be sure to be careful not to overdo it. Focus on posting consistent, quality content to attract and engage your audience.


Don’t: Ignore your pages once you have created them

Once you’ve set up your social media accounts, make sure you are using them regularly! Simply being signed up for an account is not enough because you need to be actively engaged in order to attract an audience.
