Want to utilize Twitter to drive engagement? Follow these tips.

Wondering how you can use Twitter besides simply sharing your weekly blog? Twitter is a great tool for reaching out and engaging with your audience. It’s easy to start using your Twitter to gain a following and help your clients know that you care! Here are a few great Twitter features that you can start using today!

Poll Feature

The poll feature is a great way to connect with your audience and increase engagement on Twitter. The feature allows you to use all 140 characters in addition to the poll responses. It’s an interactive element that allows clients to reach out to you with their opinions and feedback. And, just like regular tweets, poll tweets can be retweeted, so they reach a larger audience organically.

Twitter Moments

Are you proud of your Twitter posts? Or have you been posting on a theme and want to get all your posts in the same place? Twitter Moments will allow you to create a collection of tweets that followers can scroll through. Usually incorporating video and photos, Twitter Moments is a great way to tell a story. You can even share interesting Moments from others, which makes your feed more varied and eye-catching and drives more engagement on Twitter.

Visual Aids

Most people on the Internet are driven by visuals. This is why pictures, videos, and gifs are so commonly spread and incorporated in blog posts online. If you really want to catch someone’s eye, one of the best ways is through the clever use of visual aids. There are three types of visual aids you can use to drive engagement:

  • Pictures: Again, using visuals for storytelling is a great way to drive engagement on Twitter. You can create a photo collage using up to 4 photos that tell a story. So, for example, if you are a landscaping company, post 3 photos of a project; 1 before, 1 during, and 1 after. This creates a compelling story while also allowing followers to see the quality of your work.
  • Gifs: Gifs are moving images that you can use as a reaction or as the main feature of your tweet. You can either make your own gif or use gifs in Twitter’s library. Take a look at Denny’s waterproof pancake gif, a gif the company created and tweeted out days before the iPhone 7 was announced, and Amazon’s “we’re on our way!” reaction gif sent as a response by the customer service team.
  • Video: Shooting a short video to post to your Twitter is essentially an inexpensive way to run a commercial online! To get your video shared, you want it to be appealing and eye-catching. Try using detailed graphics and music to create an experience during the few short seconds of the video. Check out this video from Grofers for an example. Keep in mind that you always want to give the viewer a reason to interact with the video. The Grofers video asks viewers to tweet about their favorite drinks with specific hashtags. This video from Landmark Stores is essentially a game for viewers to play and pause, taking a screenshot and tweeting it out for others to see. The more interactive your content is, the more successful your online presence will be!
